Blue Silk & Satin Jazz Band

Blue Silk & Satin Jazz Band

The Blue Silk and Satin Jazz band is an outgrowth of the Dallastown Area High School Jazz Band, originally formed in 1970. Through the years, that high school band focused on jazz and big band music and performed throughout the United States, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Mexico, winning many gold medals at International Music Adjudication Festivals.

The present Blue Silk and Satin Jazz Band is comprised of alumni musicians who reside in southern PA, MD, and DE.

The band's repertoire includes a wide ranger of music from the big band era of the 30s and 40s to the music of the 60s and 70s, such as Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson. Blue Silk and Satin is well-known in the York County area where it performs in a variety of venues, including performances for the Tall Cedars. For the past several years, the band has come north to play at Knoebel's Grove each summer.

Mr. Ronald Hill, at the request of the alumni musicians, directs the band which he started many years ago.
